(www.wowt.com) The FBI is looking into a bizarre and frightening incident aboard a commercial jet heading from Houston to Omaha last Friday involving an unstable passenger.

It began with a middle-aged man leaving the plane's lavatory covered in his own feces. "Oh, it was awful. It was worse than that."

Stacey, from Houston, who asked that we not use her last name, says the small commuter jet had just one flight attendant in the cabin, a young man who moved the other passengers forward to empty seats and kept the unkept passenger in the back row.

The manufacturer told Bloomberg yesterday that it was studying new "product enhancements" because replacement plans for the 737 aircraft have been delayed toward the end of the next decade.

(www.nbcwashington.com) The Council on American-Islamic Relations said that nine American Muslims, most of them headed to Florida for a vacation with family members, were removed from an AirTran Airways flight Thursday afternoon at Reagan National Airport.

The group said the incident began when another passenger complained about something that was said while boarding.

"We were talking about seat placement," one of the detained passengers said. "We were in the back ... started talking about safest place to sit. Maybe someone gleaned into that that we were planning to do something to the plane."

(news.yahoo.com) In Brazil's legal system, police ask a judge to indict a suspect. The judge then determines if charges are filed. Constantino has yet to be charged in either case.
A spokeswoman for the Federal District's civil police confirmed the request for indictment. She spoke on condition of anonymity, citing department rules.
Constantino is one of Brazil's wealthiest and most influential business players. His fortune is estimated at more than $1 billion.
A former long-haul trucker who started a bus company in the 1950s that became one of the country's biggest, Constantino started Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA with his sons. The budget airline began flying in 2001 and quickly made inroads into the Brazilian market.

Qantas A380 on side trip to paradise

Submitted: Tuesday (12/30) 03:36PM EST by naemick
(www.smh.com.au) A MIDAIR emergency involving a sick Qantas passenger forced the world's largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380, to touch down in Fiji for the first time yesterday.

But what was supposed to be a quick turnaround became an overnight holiday in paradise after an onboard computer problem was unable to be fixed by local engineers.

Flight QF12, with 337 passengers on board, was 10 hours and 45 minutes into its journey from Los Angeles to Sydney when a male passenger apparently suffered diabetic shock.

Kristen Zaleski, from Los Angeles, said she saw flight attendants administering oxygen to the ill man.

The captain of the A380, which began operations only one week earlier, made the decision to land the jet at Fiji's international airport in Nadi, where the runway is several hundred metres shorter than the one used by A380s at Sydney Airport.
